I am a SEWING machine

So you may or may not know this little fact about me.... when I find something I truly enjoy I become completely OBSESSED with it. It engulfs every moment and plagues my thoughts with all of its possibilities.

A little back ground... I've been frequenting craft blogs for the past few months now, checking out other's creative minds and letting mine evolve. I've been so crazy w/ work and life (see post below) that I really didn't have anytime to myself. I was blessed to receive a bonus from work for all of my hard work and with that little gift of thanks I went and bought myself this:

I set up two nights ago and tested her out! PHENOMENAL! I love my little singer. She's going to do me well, I can just feel it.

I'm need to hem my first project and it will be done, I've got my next pinned and ready to create, and I've got an exploded mind of idea's sketched on clipboards hidden at work. I'm so excited for my new hobby!

Oh the possibilities.

Busy Busy and LOVING it

So my last real update was back in July... it is now September and I'm pretty sure August was the busiest month of the year thus far.

-Trip to San Jose for grandma's funeral and visiting the Burdett's

-Spencer bought his new Tahoe

-Lash Extension class

-Collaborating w/ my interior designer and spa owner for the design of the Beauty and Body Lounge "Brow Bar"

-Planning the HUGE open house Event for the grand opening of the "Brow Bar" at work

-Juggling spending time with Spencer and Max

-Goodbye parties for my friends leaving for college

-YSA 18th ward and regional activities

-Being the event coordinator at the grand opening of the "Brow Bar" - being the eyes, ears, hands, feet and brains behind it all.

I feel on top of my game!!! I love being so busy I can barely function. I wouldn't have been able to get through any of this with out the help of my amazing Spencer, my patient parents, and my employers trusting me to just go with it! I feel I've really stepped it up at work! I love love love being a receptionist for the Beauty and Body Lounge....... but I miss being an esthetician... Lucky for me I am officially on the books! That's right I can take clients now!!!! I'm hoping to really make a home here at the BbL!

CALIFORNIA LICENSE!!!!

Thursday night Spencer and I drove up to Glendale (in LA) because Friday morning I was scheduled to take my California State Board Esthetics's Test. So we got to the hotel at about 11 pm and we were exhausted, little did we know it would be a long sleepless night. Do you know how scary hotels are in LA? I swear people were coming and going from their rooms all night. And being a light sleeper, and quite paranoid already didn't help.... so around 3 am I finally got to sleep to wake up at 6:30 to get ready to take my written test. When I got to the testing spot I had to wait in a line just to be moved to another line... then finally...I got my assigned computer and started my test. I got through it well enough, and when I was done I was told I'd have to wait until my Practical portion was finished to get my results...... so began the longest day of my life.....

I went back to the hotel room to find that my room key wouldn't work... so sadly I had to wake my sleeping Spencer to let me in. I decided to ease my stress by sleeping for another hour.... one hour turned in to 2...oops. We checked out of our hotel at 12, and headed back to the testing site for my practical.

California State Board is so bad at communication! Oh my goodness, there were 50 candidates w/ their models and no one knew where they were supposed to go or what we should be doing! Finally we were showed to our stations. Hour and a half later Spencer was beautiful with his facial, and full make up application with lash extensions (my man makes a pretty lady!!)

Then all the candidates were cattled into another room to find out their test results.... Talk about nerve racking!! The test results had two options: If you got less than 70 on your written you FAIL, if you got less then 225 on your practical you FAIL. If you pass both you get your licence handed to you right then and there. Mine was the first name called...... I stepped up to the counter and......... "Congratulations, you passed" I had to sign my name to verify I received my licence, in my entire life I've never forgotten how to spell my own name until that moment. Licence in hand, I ran through the parking lot to my Spencer and we jumped for joy giggling like little girls!!!

It feels so good to finally have a License again! Hopefully my spa will start me on the floor soon! I can't wait to start doing what I love again!!

Weekend Adventures

This past weekend Spencer had the opportunity to be a Groom's Man in one of his mission companion's weddings! EXCITING, I know. Crazy thing about all of this is, I used to work with the bride in Rexburg at Sage! She was a massage therapist and I remember days in the back room talking about her missionary and how much longer till he got home and all the little stories that go along w/ waiting for a missionary!! Hello small world.... so while I slaved away at work Spencer got to be apart of all of the wedding fun!! Luckily I got off work in time to ride up to LA with my boo. We had a great time at the reception! There was AMAZING food, adorable kids, and old friends to see. I got to meet Spencer's mission president and his wife. They were absolutely adorable!!

Then Sunday Spencer's Aunt Pattie and Uncle Frank were in town visiting his cousins and we got to spend the whole afternoon together! I ADORE them!! Pattie cracks me up! We enjoyed the time we got to spend with them even though it was short!! Love them. Miss them!

AND THEN....... For FHE with our Ward we went to the PADRES game! We had soo much fun! We spent part of the game watching... but mostly we were just throwing things at people like: Swedish fish, sour patch kids, peanuts, popcorn, paper airplanes... pretty much anything we could find! SO much fun!

Me and my Boo

Love her!
